Settled in the Neolithic, the name of Knossos has survived from ancient Greek literature in the major city of Crete. Knossos Palace eventually became the ceremonial and political center of the Minoan civilization and culture. The Palace was abandoned at some unknown time at the end of the late bronze age, P. BC. The cause is unknown, but one of the many disasters that have befallen the Palace is generally put forward. In the first Palace period around 2000 BC the urban area reached a size of as much as 18.000 people. At its peak, the Palace and the surrounding city boasted a population of 100.000 people shortly after 1.700 BC. The Palace of Knossos has the thick Neolithic layer that indicates where the sequence of calculations until the period of the Palace. Arthur Evans who unearthed the Palace of Knossos in modern times, has estimated that S. BC the Neolithic people arrived on the hill, probably from overseas by boat, and placed the first of a succession of wattle and daub villages modern of radiocarbon dates have raised the estimate to c. By 7.0006.500 BC. A large number of clay and stone embedded coils and curls show a local cloth-making. There are fine ground axe and Mace heads of colored stone: jade, serpentine, diorite and jadeite, as well as obsidian knives and arrowheads along with the cores from which they were flaked. The most significant among the other small items, a large number of animal and human figurines, including Nude sitting or standing women with enlarged Breasts and buttocks. Evans attributed them to the worship of the Neolithic mother goddess and figurines in General to religion. Among the items discovered at Knossos the Minoan goddess flanked by two lionesses, which shows the goddess that appears in many other images. John Davis Evans no relation to Arthur Evans excavated pits and trenches over the Palace, focusing on the Neolithic. In the Aceramic Neolithic 7.0006.000 BC, a hamlet of 25-50 persons existed at the location of the Central court. They lived in mud huts, kept animals, grew crops, and, in the case of tragedy, buried their children beneath the floor. Under these circumstances, as they are still seen today, the village consisted of several families, necessarily interrelated, practicing some form of exogamy, living in close quarters with virtually no privacy and a high degree of intimacy, spending most of their time outdoors, protecting only at night or in inclement weather, and are largely nomadic or semi-nomadic. In the early Neolithic period 6.0005.000 BC, the village is between 200 and 600 persons occupied most of the territory of the Palace and the slopes to the North and West. They lived in one - or two-room square houses of mud-brick walls on a plinth of stone or of rough stone or stone artifacts. The villagers dug up centers in various places in the centre of the main room. This village had an unusual feature: one house under the West court contained eight rooms and an area of 50 m2, 540 sq. The walls were at right angles. Large stones were used for support in moments of great stress. The fact that separate sleeping cabins for individuals had not been the custom involves items of some kind. The construction was the same, except the Windows and doors were wooden, fixed, raised hearth occupied the center of the main room, and pilasters and other raised features wardrobes, beds occupied the perimeter. Under the Palace was a large house of 100 m 2 1.100 sq. The presence of the house, which was hardly a private residence, like others, suggests communal or public use, i.e., it can be a precursor of the Palace.
